The mountain pasture season
Photographic reportage from the Tremezzina Mountains
At the Museo del Paesaggio del Lago di Como opens the photographic exhibition "The Mountain Pasture Season," sponsored by the Municipality of Tremezzina and the Tremezzina Tourist Association. Francesco Soletti, after a previous work devoted to the fishing profession, turns his gaze to the mountains of the early Tremezzina hinterland to consider the activities of animal husbandry and dairy farming. Soletti realizes this repotage on the tradition of mountain pasture following a documentation activity based mainly on the studies of a great expert of the Lario-intelvese territory, Professor Michele Corti, professor of mountain animal husbandry at the University of Milan, and one of his Tremezzino graduates, agronomist Simone Lamberti of Lenno.
The exhibition is proposed as a stepping stone to the 2026 "International Year of Pastures and Shepherds," called by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations agency that deals with food policies at the global level. This initiative is based on the awareness that still today for the majority of nations pastoralism is a pillar of the food economy. The opening of the exhibition will take place in conjunction with the "Tremezzina Gastronomica" festival, where a Market of local producers promoted by the Tremezzina Tourist Association and the Municipality, in collaboration with Slow Food Como, will be set up.
