In a nutshell
Every year at the Mediterranean Hippodrome in Syracuse, there is a big festival dedicated to the delicious Cassibile strawberry.
During the last weekend in April, the event combines the appreciation of one of the area's gastronomic delicacies with music performances, dances and craft markets. The event ends with a huge strawberry cake - weighing about 600kg - being offered to the public on the last day.
