The Feast of the Redeemer in Nuoro

Since the beginning of the twentieth century, Nuoro has celebrated a festival in honor of the Redeemer, commemorating the great feat that saw the bronze statue of the Redeemer arrive from Naples and then be placed on the summit of Mount Ortobene. A statue weighing as much as 18 quintals and 7 meters high. After this important event for the citizens of Nuoro, the feast began to be celebrated, which over the years has become one of the most important religious events in Sardinia, with its highlight being the August 29 procession through no less than thirteen stations. In addition to the religious festivities there are performances in traditional costumes and masks, parades of Amazons and knights.
