The donkey race of Frosolone

A special palio, where, without the slightest mistreatment of them, donkeys are the absolute protagonists of this long-awaited event. The palio is held on the third Sunday in August on the plateau of the Colle dell'Orso, in a picturesque and pleasant area where nature dominates and you can breathe pure air. A particular race, organized by the owner of a local restaurant, in which animals compete but in a very different way than would happen in other similar races, such as the Palio di Siena. Each donkey is paired with a neighborhood, each contrada with a municipality of the Sannio Mountain Community, and bears one of the following animals as its symbol: the wild boar, the fox, the hare, the bear, the donkey, the buzzard, and the wolf. The race is full of twists and turns and all citizens of the community can participate upon prior application.
