In a nutshell
Every year on the first weekend of August in Cavareno, Alta Val di Non, a wonderful event, the Charta della Regola, is celebrated.
The event is named after an ancient document written and transcribed in 1632 and valid until Napoleon's invasion of Trentino. The document contained all the rules of associated life to be observed by local communities.
To evoke that historic document, for about a week, the village returns to relive those 17th-century atmospheres. Thus, nobles, peasants, artisans and commoners parade through the village streets in splendid reconstructions of the clothing of the time. Markets, meetings and workshops, music performances and activities aimed at children are also organized.
There is no shortage of kiosks where you can savor the flavors of the traditional cuisine of Val di Non and also re-enactments of ancient crafts. Also particularly awaited is the reopening of the "somasi" and "vouti" - the ancient cellars and porches - where food stands of peasant cuisine and artisans' workshops are set up.
The festival concludes with a historical re-enactment in G. Prati Square, with the reading of the ancient municipal ordinances of "La Charta della Regola."
