The Palio of the 4 Cantons

Every year in the municipality of Cerano, the second Sunday in September is a particularly anticipated day, the day when the "Palio dei 4 Cantoni" is held. The event is opened by an impressive historical procession with more than 500 figures in 15th-century costumes who accompany the challengers to the sports field, where the Palio is held. Representatives of the 4 cantons of Cerano compete in tests of skill and an archery contest. There is no shortage of flag-waving and musician performances to cheer the event.
