"The Castle Revives" in Nozzano Castello.

Every year Nozzano Castello hosts "The Castle Revives," a historical re-enactment that enlivens the village for three days during the first weekend of September. Sozzano Castello takes a trip back to the past by returning to medieval times with the reconstruction of an ancient arts market, entertainment and performances of ancient music and games, which everyone can try using the event's coins: Matildi, Matildini, Castrucci and Sercambi. Medieval military outposts and archery are recreated inside the fortress and towers, as well as performances by jesters, musicians, illusionists, fakirs, stilt walkers, and fire games. The "taberne" are also opened, offering medieval recipes, sweets of historical and local tradition, the excellent wine of the Lucchesi Hills, and a toast with hippocrasus, a tasty flavored wine. In addition, a historical procession is held during the reenactment, in which about 140 figures - wearing clothes reconstructed with extreme care on the iconography of the late 14th century - accompanied by a group of 18 drums take part.
