Water Festival

Every year Piediluco and its namesake lake host the Festa delle Acque, a historic event to celebrate summer. This festival was born to pay homage to water deities, especially the God Neptune, by decorating ritual boats. Even today the most important moment of the festival is the night parade of allegorical boats, which has turned into a real competition between "artisan boatmen." At the end of the parade, and once the most beautiful boat has been acclaimed, a wonderful fireworks display will light up the Lake. But in addition to this, during the festivities, the narrow streets and squares of the medieval village are filled with colors, scents, flavors, music and events.
