Festival of "Seupa à la Vapelenentse"
Celebration of one of the best-known traditional local dishes
In a nutshell
Amid music and folk dances, one of the landmark dishes of local tradition is celebrated in the summer. The "soupa" is a typical dish with proud Valdostan peasant roots made with stale white bread and fontina cheese. The event is held a few days before the patron saint's festival in Valpelline, a pretty village that deserves an in-depth visit, and is concentrated in the highlight days of the Valdostan summer.
It is a simple festival but very much felt by the local community: the dish is delicious and authentic and unites young people and families in the village, attracting, of course, tourists and gluttons!
