Campobasso's parade of the Mysteries - Corpus Christi

At 10:00 a.m. sharp the gates of the Mystery Museum open and the procession begins. The departure of each Mystery is preceded by the characteristic gesture of the team leader who, by striking the base of the Mystery with a stick, gives the signal to the bearers to raise the Wit and make it move between two wings of jubilant crowds. The procession winds its way along a route of about three and a half kilometers through the town to return to the Mystery Museum after the blessing given by the Archbishop of Campobasso-Bojano around 1 p.m. from the main balcony of the Town Hall. Particularly characteristic is the section of the route that involves the city's historic center where narrow streets seem to embrace the Mysteries and buildings provide an evocative backdrop to their passage.
