The Pie Run

Every year on Easter Day, Oleggio holds a fun competition aimed at bachelors, the "Cake Race." The race - opened by a historical procession of more than 200 figures - re-enacts a historical episode (between reality and legend) in which the captain of some foreign soldiers - who had besieged the village - issued a challenge to the local youths in exchange for liberation. The contest was won by the youth of Oleggio, which was once again free. Throughout the event there is no shortage of flag-waving performances and other events.
