The Knightly Tournament of "Castel Clementino"
A magnificent historical re-enactment in the town of Servigliano
In a nutshell
Every year on the third weekend of August, an exciting historical reenactment has been held in Servigliano since 1969, the "Castel Clementino" Knightly Tournament. The tournament re-enacts the festivities held on the occasion of the cession by the Abbot of Farfa of the Plain of San Gualtiero to the Community of Servigliano in 1450.
The festivities begin on Saturday with a grand procession attended by more than 300 figures wearing magnificent costumes made by local tailors in a manner most faithful to 15th-century models. The procession parades in the evening through the streets of the village lit by flashlights hung on the walls and is followed by flag-waving performances.
The following day is the Joust of the Ring, in which knights representing the five districts of Servigliano compete. The winners receive the Palio, a banner that has been painted since 2005 by various local artists.
