The Guiderdone Banino
The traditional Palio of San Colombano al Lambro
In a nutshell
Every year, on the second weekend of September, medieval times are re-enacted in St. Columba, celebrating the Guiderdone Banino.
During the event, the assault on the castle by the Banini - which took place in September 1402 - is re-enacted.
The event begins with a series of medieval dance performances, jugglers, flag-waving and even falconry. The following day, a historical procession parades through the streets of the village, led by representatives of the eight districts of San Colombano al Lambro.
The procession is followed by the Quintana and the "Medieval Joust," which is divided into tournaments of swords, archers and archery and in which the representatives of the districts compete, obtaining "La Cingolina," the coveted trophy that reproduces one of the towers of the Castle.
