Villages

In Cassano Magnago, Varese, an ancient tradition, the Bonfire of the Giöbia, takes place every year on the last Thursday of January. According to legend, the Giöbia is the lady of winter who is very fond of risotto with lüganega. To hasten the end of the winter cold, the tradition is to burn a puppet of the Giöbia while the women cook the risotto.
