Feast of St. Petronius

On Oct. 4 all over Italy we celebrate St. Francis of Assisi, except in Bologna as the Bolognese remain faithful to their saint: St. Petronius! The four-day celebration dedicated to him will begin with the Palio delle Bandiere, in which the Bologna Flag-waving group, the Uffizi Flag-wavers, the Compagnia del Piagnaro of Pontremoli, the Fermo Inimucum Vicisti Flag-wavers and the Flag-wavers of the Republic of San Marino will participate. The second day will feature gastronomic events and music while, the third day of the festival will be dedicated to sports. The morning will feature the children, instead, during the afternoon the San Petronio Trophy will be organized; the citizenship will be able to participate in the day doing sports in some of the city's facilities. During the last day, there will be the actual religious celebrations, the homage to the statue of the Saint and Eucharistic celebrations.
