In a nutshell
Every year Fiuggi celebrates the "Stuzze" festival on St. Blaise's Day. On this occasion each district of the town makes a wooden wagon, known as a "Shed," which carries torches and lights up the streets of the town as it passes by.
The festival commemorates a historical event that took place in 1298: on Candlemas night, the inhabitants were intent on celebrating the patron saint St. Blaise by lighting fires. The Cajetans, ready to attack the feud, at the sight of the fire returned from whence they had come, convinced that the village had already been destroyed. The event was traced back to the miraculous intervention of the saint, Fiuggi was saved, and from that year the feast became even more heartfelt for the inhabitants.
