Bread festival
The Bread Festival is the most important event in Maiolo
Every year on the last weekend of June, the typical product of this community is celebrated, a product that is also culture and history. Maiolo boasts a tradition of bread making and baking that involves the use of local flours and special baking methods. The festival is a way to pass on this knowledge and to organize conferences and events related to the theme of bread making. During the festival, in fact, the village's old ovens come back to life: embers are lit, local flours are kneaded, and fragrant breads are baked, offered to visitors still warm, as tradition dictates. For the occasion, the ovens of the Bread Museum are open to the public. The village still retains its hamlets, old farmhouses, and small squares, and has always been a tourist destination for the historic Maioletto Fortress, from which there is a fantastic view.
