Festival of Pentecost in Castel Bolognese
An event in honor of Our Lady of the Conception
In a nutshell
One of the oldest religious events in Romagna. The Pentecost Festival traces its origins to 1630, the year a terrible plague epidemic struck Romagna, but the saving intervention of Our Lady of the Conception, prayed to by the people of Castel Bolognese, spared the small village.
For nearly four centuries, the inhabitants have celebrated the Holy Image of the Conception on the three days of Pentecost. Castel Bolognese comes alive with concerts, cultural events, exhibitions and festivals involving the town's historic center, rediscovering its picturesque views. The most picturesque moment of the event is undoubtedly the Parade of parish wagons and ancient crafts, which through the streets of the municipality, exalt the wine and agricultural production of the area and reenact the ancient traditions.
