The Castelvero Goose Walk

In August, the districts of Vestenanova gather in Castelvero to party. In addition to colorful floats and fanciful decorations, the most anticipated event is the Passeggiata con L'Oco (Walk with the Goose). A walk that is actually a race, a race of bipeds, the geese, and quadrupeds: their drivers. Each contrada fields an oco (because in Veneto the word for goose is in the masculine form) and a driver who must direct it to the finish line by moving in quadrupeds, hands and feet on the ground.
