Cardinale, among hazelnuts and iron
Cardinale, CZ is a village in the Serre Calabresi, located on both sides of the Ancinale River. The valley all around is rich in hazel trees, olive trees, oaks, chestnuts and beeches, a true natural paradise. Yet the history of Cardinale is also linked to the ironworks industry, waiting to be discovered at Filangeri Castle.
In the village, not to be missed is the mother church dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Bari, the patron saint of the village, celebrated every year on the last Sunday of May with a procession, fair, performances and fireworks.
