The underlying goal is to promote the reduction of pollution, traffic, the number of cars on the road, land consumption, and dependence on non-renewable energy sources. We like to think that the "new normal" should push a "new mobility," capable of putting people and not cars at the center.

A bit of history
The first edition of the Meeting was held in 2016, the concluding event of the Jubilee of Mercy, inspired by the Encyclical "Laudato Si'" and the United Nations 2030 Agenda. The 2017 edition was the official event of the World Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. In 2018, official event of the European Year of Cultural Heritage. In 2019, the Meeting was enrolled in the Voluntary Global Partnership of the 2030 Agenda. In 2020, as humanity entered the era of pandemics, a digital version was held, which-though less exciting-reached 263,000 people. In 2021, the Meeting's main theme was "Small Homelands," a grand national program to redesign Italy's geographies from the bottom up in terms of sustainable tourism and community.

Over the years, hundreds of very influential speakers have taken turns on stage, offering participants a reading of the changes taking place in the scenarios of sustainable mobility, travel and quality of life in urban areas, territories and tourist destinations. The conferences hosted ministers, presidents of regions, Nobel Prize nominees, university professors, representatives of institutions and associations dealing with infrastructure, transport innovation and intermodality, enabling the Meeting to become a national platform capable of performing functions as a incubator of social and business networks, an observatory and laboratory of public policy and a positive lobby that fosters the green and digital transition.
