Novafeltria, between Art Nouveau and Romanesque, nature and industry
A municipality and its hamlets tell the many faces of the Marecchia Valley and the hills of Romagna
Where

What it is and where it is Novafeltria
Novafeltria is a municipality of contrasts: it is located in the rich nature of the Marecchia Valley, but a lively industrial area has grown up around its historic center ; it is a young municipality, born in the 1900s that features Art Nouveau architecture in its center, but incorporates ancient churches and has several hamlets that are small medieval villages. Unlike other villages in the Marecchia Valley, Novafeltria has several souls vibrating together, one ancient and one modern, making this municipality a gem not to be missed.
Why it is special: strolling through time between Art Nouveau and Romanesque
A visit to Novafeltria begins in the center with the town hall, the social theater, and the Caffé Grand'Italia, elegant Art Nouveau buildings that bear witness to the fact that the town was born in the first half of the 1900s (in 1907, to be precise). Here and there, however, are also Romanesque-style buildings, such as the Oratory of Santa Marina and the Pieve di San Pietro in Culto. A mixture of eras that enchants those who experience it, allowing them to jump at will from one century to the next simply by taking a stroll through town.
Not to be missed: medieval villages.
Purists of small medieval villages need not be frightened, there is bread for their teeth too, just move from the center of Novafeltria to the villages that are part of the municipal territory: Torricella, Sartiano, Secchiano and Uffogliano. Here you can admire the remains of their respective castles, very old churches and parish churches, a mill (converted into a restaurant), and in the woods of Torricella you can even find an ancient pagan sacrificial area!
Fun fact: Novafeltria and sulfur mining.
One of the souls that characterize Novafeltria is the distinctly industrial one. And if anyone is unlikely to want to take a walk in the middle of the industrial zone, in one of the town's hamlets, Perticara, there is a beautiful museum, Sulphur, which allows visitors to explore the history of the sulfur mine, which was active since ancient times, although the real exploitation of the lode was concentrated in the first half of the 1900s. Nothing beats a trip underground and into history to end a visit to this beautiful land of contrasts.
