An exciting walk, in the footsteps of St. William of Vercelli through the beautiful land of Lucania

On the road with Guglielmo da Vercelli
It often happens in Irpinia and Lucania to encounter the figure of St. William. But who was this Guglielmo?
Guglielmo da Vercelli, born into a wealthy family, renounced wealth to come closer to the faith: he chose to live as a hermit first in Lucania and then in Irpinia. This is the reason why these territories are so linked to the figure of the saint.
To help young and old alike get closer to the saint's life, one can set out along the Saint William's Path, a route that starts from theAbbey of Montevergine in Mercogliano, in the province of Avellino, to the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Barletta, Apulia.
The Camino di Guglielmo also passes through Basilicata, specifically through Rapone, which is the arrival of the eighth stage and the departure of the ninth, the very one we will face, arriving in San Fele.
Fun fact: Those who make several stages along the Cammino di Guglielmo can apply for a Pilgrim's Passport to keep track of the pilgrimage.
