How the idea for the archive came about

“The idea of creating the archive,” Emanuela, daughter of artist Pietro Gentili (1932–2008), tells us, “stemmed from the desire and the need to organize all of my father’s work, of which he left an enormous amount: drawings, papers, canvases, and even sculpture designs. And then there’s his worldview— the message he expressed throughout his life through his art—which can still reach so many people.”

Art critics have seen a wide variety of things in Pietro Gentili’s art, but the philosopher Baba Bedi XVI may have found the ideal synthesis by defining him as a “cosmic artist.” His vision transcends the earthly dimension to explore infinite worlds. His enormous “Angels,” cosmic circles, spirals, symbols, and symmetries express the quest forthe primordial union between humanity and creation. His works possess a surprising power; they are veritable magnetic fields. This is why we like to think that, for those of us who contemplate them and perceive their harmony, they may have healing properties .

And so, born of a daughter’s love for her father, the project takes shape: an old warehouse in the village of San Vito Romano is transformed into an artist’s archive and a temple of the spirit. Don’t be fooled by the building’s simple, old-fashioned facade. As soon as you cross the threshold, it will be like entering the celestial realms, among suns, angel wings, cascades of color, and traces of infinity.

Emanuela grew up surrounded by art: that of her father Pietro—a painter, sculptor, jewelry designer, thinker, and mystic—and that of her mother Denise Madin, an astrologer. She breathed in the evolutionary energies that animated the Italian cultural scene in the 1970s. Now—she tells us—it’s time to give back: to preserve the works and spread the message.
