Biotope Palù of Tuenno
Birdwatching paradise and historical memory of the area between Cles and Tuenno
Where

What is and where is the Palù di Tuenno Biotope?
Ten minutes by bike on the provincial road from Cles to Tuenno through the beautiful apple orchards of Trentino. This is how far the Palù Biotope is from the center of Cles. The biotope is a very beautiful protected nature reserve consisting of wetlands, a pond, and marsh vegetation, mostly reeds. Bridges, footbridges and wooden observation cabins allow you to immerse yourself in nature without disturbing it
Why it is special: what remains of the marshes of the Non Valley
The beautiful expanses of apple orchards that we passed through on our way here were once very different; in fact, they did not exist. Instead, it was all marshland. Over time, human interventions led to the reclamation of much of the land for agricultural purposes, making the Palù Biotope a precious survivor, a witness to the past of this area, one of the few authentic wetlands left in Val di Non
Not to be missed: birdwatching
Precisely because it is one of the few remaining wetlands in the area, the Palù Biotope is an essential stop on the migratory routes of many bird species including shoveler, garganey, hen harrier, marsh harrier, voltolino, schiribilla, lapwing, snipe, little piro piro, wheatear, and woodcreeper. A paradise for enthusiasts who wait lovingly for the right opportunity to admire them.
