In Mana Longh
It is told in Lucania of a snake that lives at the bottom of wells--in Rapone there is one!

What is A Mana Longh
"Mana Longh" means "long hand..." And indeed this scary being from Rapone's fairy tales is a snake with long arms and long claws. It lurks at the bottom of wells. If you lean too far over the mouth of the well, the monster might catch a glimpse of you, it might smell you, and -- ouch ouch! At that point you won't have a chance! A Mana Longh will whip out his long hand, catch you and ... pull you down into the well! "T pigliav cu a mana longh e t facijh carè ndo u puzz."
A Mana Longh in the streets of Rapone
There is a well in Rapone, too. Do you see that hand sticking out from the inside? Do you see its claws? That's it, it's really A Mana Longh! Don't get too close!
What A Mana Longh teaches us
"A Mana Longh" is a babau like "u Scorciaman"-their scary stories were invented to keep children away from danger! Inside the wells you can fall down. And long ago, when children were sent to fetch water, sometimes it really happened.
