The term derives from Latin Tuscia (pronounced tuskia), the territory inhabited by the Tusci, or Etruscans, plural of Latin tuscus, a contraction of etruscus. From Tuscia, synonymous with Etruria, derive the name of the region of Tuscany and the name of the municipality of Tuscania in the province of Viterbo.
