"The Cat and the Lion" tells the story of Veneto through two great symbols: the Lion of St. Mark, emblem of the Serenissima and Venice, and the Cat, symbol of Padua.

The two Symbols become two colorful characters who tell children about the history of Veneto by bringing to the stage the contrasts between the Serenissima and the mainland, having a special regard for the history of two inland cities: Padua and Rovigo.

As in the most famous fairy tales the characters embody man's vices and virtues, in this show for elementary schools the cat and the lion become the scenic personification of the Serenissima and its hinterland and thus the meeting-clash between the region and the provincial capitals, between the macro-territory and the "bell towers."

A dualism that constitutes the richness and contradiction of a territory rich in history and art that stretches from the Adriatic Sea to the Dolomites, from the industrious countryside lying on the banks of the Po River to the rich mercantile and industrial cities.

But not only the cat and the lion converse in this show; on stage there is no shortage of a sympathetic and wise raven, famous people, poets and scientists, historians and men of letters, in short, many tasty costumed figures who enliven this Venetian epic.

To tell this "historia" there is no intention to renounce lightness and fun, rediscovering that theatricality that has always been recognized in the Veneto spirit.

Songs and poems, then, to sing in verse and rhyme, in lively pictures and in fast-paced siparietti, a glorious past that exudes from the ancient stones, churches and palaces, set like jewels in our magical land.
