What we are going to do
A historical performance with two actors from teatrOrtaet, specifically designed for MusMe in Padua, with the goal of explaining the importance that the Padua hospital has had and still has in the history of world medicine, in connection with the University and the Botanical Garden.
From a humorous Dottor Balanzone ranting with a young medical student from the 16th century, we move on to Sibilla De Cetto, founder of the first hospital in Padua "San Francesco Grande". Starting from Franciscan charity, the show outlines the figure of Sibilla De Cetto (1350-1421), who, together with her husband Baldo de Bonafari, founded the hospital in 1414, entrusting its management to the College of Jurists of the University of Padua.
Between the 16th and 17th centuries, numerous prominent figures in the history of medicine alternate, such as Vesalio and Harvey, during the period when Galileo Galilei taught in Padua (from 1592 to 1610). This is followed by the plague doctor, a humorous and historical "speziala" from Padua, and in the 18th century, Giovanni Battista Morgagni (1682 – 1771), famous for laying the foundations of modern pathological anatomy. All leading to the unpredictable finale of this journey through medicine and science!
