Sarner Kirchtag, the largest festival in the Sarntal valley

Saturday, Sunday, Monday. In Sarentino, the Sarner Kirchtag has always been the festival of the entire valley: a must-attend event in early September for valley residents and tourists alike. On Saturday and Sunday, floats, folk groups of traditional dances, marching bands from all over the valley, and the famous Aveglin horses (which competed in a beauty contest the night before) parade through the village streets. So many wear traditional costumes in a festival of colors. On Sunday there is no shortage of Mass and a procession to the little church of St. Cyprian, while on Monday morning the festival continues with the traditional livestock market, farmer's market, and artisans' stalls. Of course, all three days are enlivened by food and wine stands with local delicacies and music, with local bands and DJ sets.
