Nemi Strawberry Festival and Flower Show

The Strawberry Festival and Flower Show in Nemi is an unmissable event for the inhabitants of one of the most picturesque villages of the Castelli Romani, an Orange Flag of the Italian Touring Club. Every year since 1922, the first Sunday in June is dedicated to the main symbols of Nemi, strawberries and wild strawberries, which are picked right between the months of May and October. The village is decorated with flower arrangements made by Nemi florists, and the delicious strawberries are distributed through the streets of the village. Historical re-enactments and folkloric dances also take place, but one of the main events is undoubtedly the fascinating parade of the "Fragolare," during which the girls wear a traditional costume (consisting of a red skirt, black bodice, white blouse and a distinctive white lace headdress) and parade through the streets of Nemi. During the event, strawberries can be tasted in many local preparations, such as in sweets, jams, liqueurs and sparkling wine "fragolino" and even in a type of beer brewed in Nemi.
