Rerum Rubis: Carafa and the Legend Festival

Ruvo di Puglia is transformed and disguised in 18th-century clothing to recall the places and stories of the powerful Carafa family. In particular, the events involving Ettore Carafa, Count of Ruvo, a military man and patriot who participated in the 1799 uprisings, prologue to the founding of the Parthenopean Republic, are evoked. Historically themed conferences and concerts of 18th-century music complete the re-enactment, along with the ever-present parade in period costumes and performances by talented street artists. Among the most sensational moments is the grand final show, between the musical and the pyrotechnic, dedicated to the 1799 uprisings. The show involves several groups of reenactors originally from Ruvo, but also from Altamura, Fasano, Bitonto to Alezio. The event is organized by CERS (European Consortium of Historical Reenactments), in collaboration with the Municipality and Pro Loco of Ruvo di Puglia, and the Association Centro Studi Cultura et Memoria.
