The Renaissance Festivals of Castel del Rio

Castel del Rio, in the heart of Romagna, is transformed in the summer into a lively Renaissance center. The whole community participates in the organization of the great cultural-historical festival, and everyone has his or her own duties: those who participate in the great procession in period costumes that evokes the splendor of the Alidosian lordship, those who set up the military camp and juggle in the fighting, and those who revive ancient arts and crafts. In the historical parades alone, 400 figures parade in their glittering Renaissance costumes, and there is no shortage of local flag-wavers and performers such as acrobats and fire-eaters. Dinners rediscovering authentic Renaissance recipes are also organized for the occasion.
