The Cecamariti festival in Orvinio
Appointment in July in Sabina: all in the square to taste one of the traditional dishes of Lazio
In the beautiful square of Orvinio (one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy") the Cecamariti festival celebrates a typical local dish. "Cecamariti" are a homemade pasta made with wheat flour and corn. The seasoning is simple and flavorful: tomato, garlic, chili pepper and basil. At the festival, the dish is served with a side of sausage and chips and a good glass of local wine! According to ancient stories, adulterous wives used to deceive their spouses using "cecamariti" ("cecamariti" in fact means "to make husbands blind") as an excuse: "My husband, I spent hours and hours preparing this delicious dish for you!" ... It is actually very quick to prepare. But very, very tasty!
