La Bonissima

Several Modenese food and wine producers display their delicacies in Piazza Grande! The best product is chosen by a jury of experts and wins the coveted La Bonissima award. Various activities open to the public such as guided tastings and cooking workshops (free of charge but reservation is required) and showcooking. The event is dedicated to the re-enactment of the ancient legend of the noblewoman called "La Bonissima." Not much is known about this mysterious character, but many people think of a noble lady who in a time of famine had fed the people by also asking for help from the other notables of the city; when the famine ceased, she would celebrate with the whole population in her palace, expelling only those who had not helped her in her good work.
