Threshing Day
To revive the ancient tradition of grain processing
In a nutshell
The Museum re-enacts, with the cadence marked by the changing seasons, the work of rural life. Traditionally, at the end of June it was time to draw the first balance sheets and reap the fruits of spring's labors. A good grain harvest meant being able to look forward to the continuation of the season and ward off the spectres of misery and hunger. In the farmyard of the Cjase Cocèl Museum of Peasant Life in Fagagna, those moments can be relived. A wagon pulled by pawing animals festively harnessed brings the wheat to the threshing floor, where skilled hands see to it that the ears of wheat are fed, one bunch at a time, into the threshing machine. Rye is also a protagonist, with the demanding and laborious hand threshing from which the banzui di soleâr are obtained, which are mainly used to complete the roofing of part of the Museum's roof. During the festive day, guided tours of the Museum and workshop activities for the whole family will be organized (both by reservation). Once the morning activities have concluded, a large lunch is planned in the courtyard of the Museum, to enjoy typical dishes prepared by volunteer cooks from the Pro Loco of Fagagna.
