At the end of July, Offagna - among the most beautiful villages in Italy - a town in the hinterland of the Conero Riviera, relives the centuries of the Middle Ages and its atmosphere with the Medieval Festivals. A program full of engaging events that contribute to a particularly heartfelt event.
The historic center welcomes jugglers, flag-wavers, minstrels, storytellers, acrobats, jesters and fire-eaters, as well as falconry shows, historical re-enactments and fireworks. It is a truly awe-inspiring event where the Middle Ages is relived in all its essence, including its gastronomic traditions with a banquet featuring a medieval menu with some recipes kept secret, as in the case of the Contesa Cake (made of puff pastry) and Moretum wine, whose main ingredient is clearly blackberry.
Another specialty starring in the event is crescia, the poor bread prepared with lard, flour lard and olive oil, much consumed on medieval tables in the area.
