Feast of St. Cassian

Imola celebrates its patron saint

Spirituality
Spirituality
To celebrate its patron saint, the Cathedral of San Cassiano in Imola dresses up for the occasion, opening its doors wide to all. Celebrating St. Cassian means returning with heart and mind to August 13, 303, when the Christian teacher and educator was killed precisely because of his faith in Jesus Christ. Opening the celebration will be a concert by the Imola Philharmonic. This will be followed by the traditional San Cassiano pedaling, the Great Game of Saints and Santini in the cloister of palazzo Monsignani: a journey through the churches of the Diocese of Imola through the holy pictures of venerated images. On Sunday the actual religious festivities will take place; in the morning there will be several Eucharistic celebrations, and the festival will conclude with the historical procession of figures, flag-wavers and duelists parading through the city.
