Festa de le fae in San Giorgio di Valpolicella
Tastes and traditions in the stone village
In a nutshell
The festa de le fai in San Giorgio di Valpolicella celebrates fava beans and their magical significance in Valpolicella's popular culture. Broad beans are the first seed to bloom in the spring among those planted in the fall-that's why a day is still dedicated to this legume in the wonderful stone village. On the second Sunday in November, after mass, a broad bean soup is served to all those present, while figurants in typical costumes recall the atmosphere of the past and cheer up those present. This is a tradition deeply felt by the inhabitants of San Giorgio di Valpolicella, and also appreciated by those from outside, especially if the fava beans are accompanied by a good glass of wine... Valpolicella, of course! On the occasion of the big festival, from Friday to Sunday there will be many activities to do in and around the village: walks, photo exhibitions, a concert... find all the details in the program. Please note: some of the proposed experiences are chargeable and accessible only by reservation. It is all written in the program.
