Ancient Portuense Fair

In Portomaggiore in September (third week of the month) the Ancient Portuense Fair has been held since the 15th century. The event over the centuries has become one of the most popular in the area, attracting a large number of participants from year to year. The Antica Fiera includes the organization of numerous initiatives of different kinds, such as the awarding of the "Federico Bernagozzi Special Prize" - one of the most prestigious awards, given to a Ferrara personage who has distinguished himself over the course of the year in scientific, artistic and cultural fields - but also an entire day dedicated to agriculture, with demonstrations of means intended for working the land and dealers of agricultural machinery; this with the aim of highlighting recent innovations in the sector. Concerts, theater performances, stilt walkers and jugglers are also put on during the event, with the participation of more than 90 performers. A fun Luna Park full of special attractions aimed at adults and children is also put on.
