In Fugarena of Terra del Sole

In Castrocaro Terme, the hamlet of Terra del Sole hosts the "Fugarena," an ancient festival related to the propitiatory rite for the fertility of the earth and the abundance of the harvest. Tradition has it that for this purpose the harvest of the earth is offered in the church and a large bonfire is lit in the central square. In fact, the main event is the lighting of the "Fugarena," obtained by burning branches, a rite with which the agrarian deities are thanked at the end of the harvest and olive picking season. There is no shortage of other initiatives such as a street market and a craft market, food and wine stands with local products, street performers, old-fashioned games, and wine and mulled wine tastings.
