Montauro, where the Costa degli Aranci begins
Montauro, the first village of the Costa degli Aranci, stands on a rocky spur overlooking the Gulf of Squillace stretched out below, with Monte Paladino, the first rise of the Serre Calabresi mountains, behind it. It is a rural village, closely linked to the history of the Grangia di Sant'Anna, whose ruins can still be seen nearby, and to fishing, a tradition of past centuries that has now disappeared, yet still lives on in local memory and in the customs of this land.
Walking through the village centre you come across noble buildings with elegant architectural details, along with the Mother Church, built upon the remains of a much older structure.
